About calender.html,
calender.html is the Newswest on line community calendar page for
normal able users using javascript enabled browsers at 800 by 600
pixel resolution or higher. Once loaded the page runs a client side
JavaScript database. Users who do not enable Javascript do not gain
necessary functions to access the event data.
Notes:
Self hiding accessibility features at the top left works best in;
IE8, FireFox 3.5, Safari 5, Google Chrome 5 and NS8 Firefox mode. Opera 10.6
Works too with special code to make tabs select links. NS8 IE mode ignores it?
Font size:
Page uses some fixed fonts currently
we recommend;
Browser options to change page zoom, font size, or page styles.
These do generally work in recent browsers.
we do not recommend;
Bookmarklet Tool bar addons.
Those tested so far do not change font size on this page,
Graphic text:
3 graphics, acting as buttons, do display text that may scale poorly
We recommend;
Disabling images for users requiring high level of page magnification.
Disabling images may require special browser settings or add-ons.
Contrast:
Some text is white over a colored background.
Other text is blue or Black over a colored background. Where contrast is low generally the information lacks importance,
lacks function or provides alternate access. Example: white font used in table when date has no event.
We recommend;
Browser options to view page with no styles if areas of lower
contrast are a problem for the user.
Pop-ups:
Normal functions are to present event data by day week
or month in a pop-up window.
We recommend;
Users who do not support pop-ups may use the
alternate presentation in the preview window and overlay boxes.
Dynamic content;
Page uses an accordion element to hide sections not being used.
Accordian sections are opened by mouse clicks on the section heading
or by use of tab key to select the heading followed by the enter key.
Top section is a preview window intended to show event information
in various dynamic ways based on user actions.
Many Community events may be described in an alternate format
in the Newswest On line section.
